Tridonic PC *** COMBO ballast

These UK made Tridonic combo ballasts have been okay really but 10 years old are now starting to play up a little bit and are now obviously obsolete, this has led to cause me problems as they are still available but at an extortionate cost. At home some of you may have noticed at the last meet I had a stack of about 10 Of these ballasts all had failed in a strange kind of way. Charging LED was dim and there was a high-pitched whistle. I tried speaking to Tridonic technical about this and naturally because it was not LED they didn’t want to know. So I started taking to bits some of the failed units at home plus another three but I came across at a job at a new school. In the end I identified a failed capacitor circled on the charging side. After replacement the ballasts seemed to work fine and I have reinstalled some of them. A handy tip should you come across these failed. Out of 10 I repaired eight the other two having suffered water damage were no go.
