Has anyone else come across this…? Over the last couple of years I have had a LOT of NM emergency bulkheads doing this, running the tube very dim in this cold cathode state nuking the tube in a couple of hours. The tube is dimmer than the camera makes it. Given I can no longer get and FL bulkheads I investigated this further and found little capacitors to be at fault as I Wright this I am waiting for my soldering iron to heat up to repair this old emergi-lite. https://youtube.com/shorts/3DPhzsvQbHY?feature=share

NOS the capacitors are dry

Yes, seems to be a big issue, especially with the likes of Channel branded fittings

I’m finding the modern thorn ones are doing it all the time now even my old Exco branded ones which were RLD rebranded have started doing it, same 10Uf 35V capacitor

Well it is but a lot of these are 20 years old if they do it though rich and you find it just try replacing the capacitors

The cheaper fittings seem worse for underdriving the tubes. For example my 2015 Robus exit sign did that. Eventually, the mains ballast failed too and started to fry the tubes so I replaced it with a Menvier SXM from 2013 and I've never had any issues with it.

I fucking hate robus or LED group as they now call themselves… or whatever cheap tat they can find in China
