Acrylic doesn't tend to fade, even in fluorescent fittings. It is probably polycarbonate or something

Even good quality polycarbonate shouldn't degrade as fast as these do, I think some of them may even be styrene or some other cheap plastic that degrades quickly with the blue light output or hot spots from the LED's?
You see these like this everywhere nowadays, it looks really cheap and crappy too.

Common problem sadly - see buildings full of sad looking LED panels lije this - one of the reasons I hate them so much!

Likewise, especially when they have replaced some decent quality (and usually newish and pretty expensive!) fluorescent modulars!
Slyspark   [17 May, 2024 at 08:57 PM]
Exactly that! Just a waste!

Indeed a waste of money, materials and energy for cheap junk to go in land fill after a couple of years, then even if they do last there is the problem of cheap non standard drivers and emergency modules/batteries. I've also never liked the idea of the cheap plastic cased emergency packs these come with just thrown up into the ceiling void, powered 24/7...

The acrylic fade fast from the blue light of the LED emitters, while it is UV resistant.

Definitely from poor quality materials being used. Heat and UV is what degrades the plastic. I've seen LED panels 10X worse than that where there is just 2 little strips at each edge which is illuminated.

Acrylic is UV resistant, but not blue light resistant.
