GEC Z9538 control gear When I first released the screws, i expected a nice Z1616P ballast to show up, but nope, instead it was later Philips gear, usually found in a MI26 or the like. Due to the years of disuse, the ballast terminal cover hadn't become brittle to the point of disintegrating.

whats the date on the capacitor dave? its on the far left of the photo, just out of view. bet its something like 2/90 or something

Never personally been an fan of these glass fibre versions, they tend to fall to bits in service, the brass inserts in the fibre body for the screws to go into, they allways drop out so the lampholder bracket fallout out and the lamps rattling round in the bowl bottom ! Its the die cast aluminium versions that are the quality made units, with the felt gaskets, they are ever lasting and look the part

From memory its 7/89. Cant quite remember. I'll grab it out the loft and have a look.
