Holophane Module 600 control gear
Removed a few weeks back, and subsequently saved, this absolute monster of a bulkhead, a Holophane Module 600, for 400w SON lamps. It came from the former Walsall Market, and was once one of five that lit the area. The area has since been redeveloped, and by the time we eventually removed them, there was just two left. Of those two, this was the only intact one. It was originally mounted on a ten meter column, and was attached to a mounting plate that was just as heavy as the bulkhead itself, believe me it was no easy feat getting it off and into the bucket. The bracket was taken off, as I prefer these wall mounted.

Removing the reflector panel revealed a very nice set of original control gear, with the very unusual and rare glow bottle starter igniter. Its in an incredible condition considering a life of mostly disuse, thankfully it all works.

The starter ignitor appears also to be a superimposed ignitor - most ignitors of the time (can't say about the glow starter based ones, but i do about the electronic, diac/triac based) used to use the ballast as a pulse coil

Looks like a rare beast indeed. I found some replacement starters for these ignitors on eBay a while ago, they weren't cheap!

What the parameters like voltage and short circuit current are ? Maybe a substitute starter can be made out of parts of common starters ?

Still carry spare starters for these ignitors on my van!
