Brand new Urbis Altra, new gear
Found IN THE SKIP, and subsequently saved, this Urbis Altra actually now gets a chance at life. Originally taking 24w PL-L, it was converted to 36w PL-L because the lamp compartment looked rather wasted, as well as the fact the HF driver was actually broken, falling apart on me as soon as I hinged the gear tray. Its now a switch start lantern, and works very effectively. The optics easily increase the light output, spreading it evenly around the area.
The gear tray is supported on two hooks, and can easily be removed in its entirety for maintenance or complete replacement. The layout of the gear means no wires has been cut, meaning the HF driver can actually be reused should you want to.

In my experience, ST111s are relatively long lasting but do like to fail welded closed randomly at old age

I've had brand new one's weld together, for no good reason, both at home and at work, burning out equally brand new tubes in the process Shocked, however, they were all out of the same box so just may have been a bad batch?

I’d have probably gone for an electronic starter myself. Looks good!

I think Osram St111's are good starters tbh its the caps in them that lets them down.
