|
|

Yes they were rescued from the upstairs of a plumbers shop in newcastle The upstairs was disused

Phil above shops is an aladins cave of old lamps lights and fittings it's just getting in to those shops to do the work that's hard these days in the modern time of "national contractors"

The basement of the estate agents where my mum worked in the 80s had some amazing stuff that was just dumped down there when the shop was refurbished. There was a quad Atlantic and a couple of well used Ecko Ensign twin fittings, along with a Neon sign. I wanted to take this stuff but as a Kid, wasn't aloud.

Bet it's long gone now rob and turned in to a block of flats! probably shove some more immigrants in there! The neon sign would be worth a fortune!

The shop is still there as the same independant estate agents owned by the same guy, though I remember them clearing the basement in the 90s unfortunatly. Pretty sure its a listed building, its a really nice old building which was built in the 1800s.

Maybe worth just asking the question rob?

I know its all gone as I went down there in the mid 90s when I was a student and did a bit of work for them one summer. Of course I wish I had found a way to grab it all now, especially the quad Atlantic. The thing weighed a tonne!

Had those in the Maths department at my secondary school in the early 90's Re-lamped them on the odd occasion, but I bet they've long since been removed. Back then as a student, I was allowed to re-lamp and replace lights by the caretaker, before health and safety was so tight! Payment - free cases of tubes
