dont know, guess the chap who installed it decided to put the capacitor in a cast iron switch box for some reason, it was on the inside of a building, so maybe so you couldent touch it

yes it works, the original ballast tapping had burnt out in the past, dont know if the cable became loose or what, this would have caused the lamp to not work. They just used another voltage tapping, and hey presto, back in lighting !

to access the cable terminations, you remove a aluminium lid off the top of the crompton ballast, theres a row of tappings, non marked up lol
