Old Crosby street lighting.

This pic is of the street lighting in Crosby where I live showing how the posts that were once used to suspend overhead wires for trams have been re-used for street lighting. These survived at least into the 90s though with different lanterns, there were people that were not happy about them being removed. In the distance, in there is just visible a catenary light (red circle). This had long gone when I came to the area in 1978. I'm guessing the pic to be sometime in the 1950s-1960s. I should think that it would have been pretty dark at night with this arrangement.
