Thorn Pop packs SRS 6ft
Here are a couple of the Thorn pop packs in what was my Form room at my secondary school. These buildings were built in 1972. The classrooms were all lit by either 6ft SRS or 8ft SS with prismatic diffusers. Most are still in service today!

Lo the old blackboards it was always good to whack the board rubber off the table creating a cloud of dust. Ha

another block did have grey siders. That's gone now, was a temporary buildng that was only designed to last 10 years but ended up lasting 40 years.

These lights were not heavily used as the room was on the corner of the building with windows along two walls, on the 2nd floor and so had plenty of daylight. Would think the tubes would have lasted decades!

Probably rob! Hardly used but will probably find some domestic house bashing sparky go in there one day and tell the school they will save millions of pounds in electric if they change these old lights that are hardly ever used to LED! And the school will believe them! Rolling Eyes

The grey sided pop packs were used in a prefab building called a ROSLA unit (raising of the school leaving age) when the leaving was raised in the early 70s and extra classroom space was required. They were used throughout the country, built from wooden sections that bolted together and designed to be temporary (up to 10 years max) but often ended up being used for decades.

Ha ha ha no way I didn't know that's what ROSLA stood for! I've seen that written in schools before on DBs etc! Learn something new everyday! None of the secondary's I look after have Eliot huts anymore however in RRS there is an old photo of the school before the early 70s blocks were built and there were 2 Elliot's!
