Fluorescent heat & light
I was just flicking through the old 1974 Argos catalogue and came across this heat and light unit with a circular fluorescent tube! Never knew there to be a fluorescent version. Looks like the tungsten light in the middle may be the ballast? It didn't say much in the description, only describing the heater as being 750w and that the light could be operated without the heater.

There was a GLS version in this house, it was used a fair bit the first year we were in this house as there was no central heating. The heater reflector rusted with the damp atmosphere in the bathroom. It stayed for years after as a backup in case the CH failed.

We had one of the standard versions too, made by Swan. In addition to a linear quartz heater on the wall. They were removed many years ago though.

I can still smell the dust burning... We had one too about 20 years ago...
