GEC 5ft Batten (as rescued) I rescued this batten when I was a paper boy and the shop had a separate depot for the paper rounds across the road. This was in the office where there was a computer which managed the 19 paper rounds. They moved the paper rounds to the back of the shop and closed the depot to save money.

This is some kind of GEC batten, never have known the type but its a great little fitting! The capacitor in this is dated 1969 which fits in with when I believe the depot was opened in 1970.

Is this the one the choke sadly packed up in? Was it gone when you got it?

No it still worked for a few years. It became very noisy before tripping the RCD constantly. Every other part is original, including the wiring. I only ever replace parts that are broken beyond repair when restoring a fitting.
