BR MK3 - lots of fluorescent tubes!
This isn't my picture, I rarely travel on trains since the mid 90s, but I have always loved this lighting arrangement with all these 2ft recessed fluorescents neatly integrated into the ceiling panels. This is BR MK3 coach that was introduced in the mid 70s and are still considered an excellent design. These coaches are still in service but have mostly been refurbished/downgraded now. A great example of British engineering when not constrained by management from a non engineering background.

Yep they were very well lit, from what I can gather there are still carriages in service with the original lighting.

Brings back memories... Going down to London on a rake of Mk2's drawn by a Class 47 Very Happy
