Still fluorescent at Bootle Strand shopping centre 2018
I don't have cause to visit the Bootle Strand shopping centre often these days. I did take a pic back in 2014 of these interesting, what look to be 1980s fluorescent fittings and was please to see them still in service today and well maintained. They have lost their reeded diffusers, last time I was here they were held on with tape. Bootle strand was opened in 1968 but a roof was added in the early 80s which is probably when these fittings were installed.

Nice. The whole affair looks very retro.

Aw! I’d forgotten that you used to get "interconnecting" fluorescent fittings like this. Propper retro design and a favourite in offices and libraries etc. Love it!

I like them!

Great as ever. I seen also a version where the interconnects were made with flexible Accordion like sections, usually Black color

Have any of you wired or maintained something like this ? How is the interconnection between all the fittings done ?

This looks like Philips`s SPACIOLITA 2 tubular structural system, I think some music shops in Chester still have this?, isn`t all the wiring just fed through, like giant size PVC conduit? Cool
