GEC MBI/H 2000W
Fantastic old GEC Metal Halide lamp of 2000W. GEC was actually not very good at making metal halide lamps, they never managed to get the colour stable. In fact they were so unreliable that the company later shifted focus to making lamps that were intentionally green and blue for coloured floodlighting. This 2000W rating was the only white lamp they produced for general lighting.

Hehe dangerous whisky bottle if you had to balance it on that small dimpled end!

Why did they keep getting it so wrong James?

Very interesting! I had forgotten that GEC made MH lamps. Now that I think about it I remember from my childhood inspecting GEC coloured floodlights along the Torquay Rock Walk.

Looks like it has very little halide salts in the tube?, wonder if that was one of the reasons?
