Yet Another Wallpackette - 125w MBFU gear

Here you see the gear inside the Wallpackette I acquired recently. This is in pretty good condition having been in a warm dry environment all it's life and as you can see here it's totally original.

Used to be quite common here on factories etc.

I still see a surprising amount of these dotted around. There's a few of the larger version of this in use at the local hospital, I've seen a few Wallpackette's dotted around a city near here and the place I work had loads of these at one point lighting up cellars and tunnels etc., there's still one or two in use and there's the odd redundant one dotted about and evidence of where these have been fitted previously. This one was one I hadn't spotted before, hiding up behind some cable trays in a basement!

Gotta love these, a quality fitting that's built like a tank! Got one in 125w merc myself, but it's missing it's paint as been outside for years. Mine has an open-coil ballast, so I'm guessing probably a little bit older than this one.

Actually now you mention it I do have an open coil ballasted one somewhere for 125w mercury, it's a bit rough though and the ballast is extremely noisy even after tightening down the securing screws. I'll have to dig it out sometime.

I bet that gear used to get hot locked in above a 125 merc??

Clearly didn't mind if it did tho, I mean, it's 40 yrs old and still works... ...Imagine a modern Tridonic in there! Laughing

BICC branded cap. I wonder if that’s the BICC that I know...
