Coughtrie FB16 Mk3 Twin 8w Bulkhead - Gear

A recent eBay purchase. This was sold as 'spares or repairs', but appeared to be in very good condition from the pictures. Obviously it works fine and I believe it's actually never been used. It doesn't appear to have been mounted and there are no cable entry bungs removed

As you can see here, weirdly one out of the original looking pair of ballasts is a 220v one! I wonder if Coughtrie would honour a warranty claim on a 40 year old fitting lol?

Also note that it came with a pair of 'SB' branded universal starters, which appeared to be dead with 8w tubes, but do start larger tubes?

Love them starters. My favourites

The 220V 8W choke would work 13W at 240V, so presumably 2 x 8W in series as well. We had an old cheapo 13W batten that had a 220V 8W choke in it and it always worked perfectly.

This would never work out well in the US, apart fron the 2x4 watts on manual push button start.

The dead starters could be photoelectric effect.. (They have no ambient light in the SFB when you close the tray)
