Philips 1000w Mercury / Metal Halide Control Gearbox: Internals.
Showing the insides of this very heavy and sturdy steel Rittal AE1035 IP66 lockable box. See the other photo for the backstory behind this.

The ballast is a Philips BHL 1000 L78.
Ignitor is an SI52.
Two 45uf PFC's in parallel.

I added a switched and fused IEC input, toggle switch to enable the ignitor for metal halide operation and an IEC output socket.
Labels are incomplete as I ran out of tape for my label printer!

It's interesting how the keys that you always get for accessing electrical cabinets always have a bottle opener in the handle.
I mean everybody drinks beer when they are working inside electrical switchgear cabinets!

Nice bit of kit there! I agree, you got a bargain. Very Happy

The place I got it from was called FenMoorMountain Machinery. They only had one in stock which I nabbed. I might have to get a longer version of one of these cabinets to house my 1000w SON gear in. Be expensive but worth it I suppose.
