Cobrahead, Mouth Open...Ready To Strike!
...Or more technically it took a strike:

Streetlight pole that got knocked down recently (most likely hit by a vehicle, but also possible that the pole had partially rotted out & the wind in last Wednesday's storm took it). Either way, its no doubt somehow related to the storm. (also note the large dead tree broken off behind the fence).

In this setup it looks like the open mouth on a snake .LOL.

Both pic's were taken from the same spot...I love the way the zoomed in one turned out :)

Thing looks like it's having a laugh to me. Someone must've told it about the LED salesman who rocked up to town hall.

@AngryHorse:
Yeah it does. If you look closely at the angle its hanging from arm, you can tell it actually came loose in the fall & is probably hanging by its wires.

@FrontSideBus:
Nope, this is laying in the front yard of a house...they could look out the window & easily see it. (plus that road, while not busy still gets a fair amount of traffic.)
(now if that had beem my house, the lantern might have somehow mysteriously ended up on the back side of that fence....)

@lasagafield:
Now that you mention it...yep it does look like its laughing Laughing
Sadly most of the other lights along this road have already been replaced with LED, I'm sure when the replacement pole goes up it'll have a LED lantern

Update: A new SON lantern was installed in place of this! image here

Also.. note that large (dead) tree behind the fence, that got blown down in the storm.
Its possible that that may have been the cause of this light's demise. There was an overhead wire running from the pole you see back farther to this one, and it was low enough that the tree could have caught it on the way down. The downed pole also looks like it might have been partially rotted out. (also I didn't see any car parts laying around)
