Troughton and Young fluorescent fittings, open
A nice haul 29/10/18, which ended up probably being my personal best as far as fluorescent lights go. These 6 fittings, made by Troughton and Young, and their 6 corresponding Mazda natural tubes were recently removed and destined for the skip, well supposed to be. For a while they had been standing in a forgotten corner. I was doing work in this corner when I spotted them. A quick chat secured everything for the collection.

In this day and age, I find it truly remarkable how such original fittings that are so old are still found here and there. All the fittings retain the original gear, metal can starters and the Mazda tubes, a rare feat. I have never heard of Troughton and young, further adding to the interesting scale. As of writing this, all the starters work, and five of the 6 tubes work, I think the non working one could be a broken cathode.

Sadly one of the fittings has lost a lamp holder, with how rare these are and how hard the parts will be to even source a replacement, I will be forced to strip that one for parts and eventually scrapping.
