Turbolux 4000!

This evening's random tinkering: remove the electronic starters from the two smashed 26w GE Biax T lamps and put them into a standard starter housing & see what they'll light. The results:

- 2ft to 6ft T8 & T12's all tried and started fine.
- 8ft 100w & 125w both started fine.
- Then I tried a 6ft T12 which I suspected would be eol (it's been contaminated the last few times I've run it) and the cathodes glowed for a bit and then the starter made hot smells and got stuck closed.

So to conclude from my quick bit of non scientific or long term testing; these starters pack a punch but likely have no eol protection and/or aren't designed to handle the higher current of bigger lamps.

I didnt realise them lamps had electronic starters in em! Thought they were always glow starter only!

Yes Danny built in electronic instant starters from the factory! They're rare lamps I reckon?

Also, update: they won't start 16w 2D lamps, the cathodes just glow

Id say pretty rare! You should solder one in that platino 9w pl-s

I doubt it would fit.
