Ambient light controlled dimmable mods
The recessed mods in the break room where I work have ambient light sensors so that they only come on when needed. The ones closest to the windows dim right down when it’s daytime and gradually power up as it gets darker outside.

No idea what lamps they use, maybe two PL-L’s
Edit: actually 2 T5 lamps in each side.

Looks to be a nice setup. How long before someone rips them out for permanently lit LED flat panels to "save power" Laughing

Seen ambient light controlled fitting before of other styles. They are quite a good idea. I'd much rather see these around than those LED panels - The diffusers on the t5 and PL recessed fittings look nicer than a white square in the tiles that you find with most LED recessed lights.

We have ambient light controlled mods in our showroom, but they are LED!, they have a adjustment port on them to either utilise the light control, or switch it off so their bright 24/7!, as LED go though, their excellent fittings, there’s about 50 of them both on the showroom ceiling, under the mezzanine floor, and in the call centre, their all well over 4 years old now, and there’s not been one SINGLE failure of any of them yet!

That's quite good tbh. What make are they?

I visited a local factory a few years ago and they had the same thing in their break room but with PL-T downlights that were also on proximity sensors so were only lit when the room was occupied.

My old place of work (when we moved into the new far-too-swanky building) had a daylight matching system. Unfortunately in addition to PL fluorescents, they also had halide wall washers hooked up to it. Which bounced light back at the sensors...you can see where this is going can't you. Yes, they cycled endlessly. When trying to hot restrike the ignitor a kicked out interference which played hell with my PC's mouse, and we had two lamps explode while I was in that corner...yep, enclosed rated lamps in open fittings. Place was built by monkeys.
