Thorn 2DA16 Mk1 vs Mk2 Mk2 on the left and Mk1 on the right. The Mk1 is lighter and more compact than the Mk2. I wonder why they swapped to the more bulky design of the Mk2, maybe they were a bit too optimistic on how small they could make the ballast on the Mk1 and had issues with them.

Possibly to make it look more modern or it was cheaper to make that shape?
