Tri-coloured half coater T8 I haven't fired these up in a while, so decided to give them a blast. T8's when cold always have a tendency to start up dim in the middle, usually its nothing special but when its a half coater its far more noticeable and makes the tube way more impressive. Thankfully my camera picked up the colours perfectly, two minutes later the tube was fully warmed up.

nice tube, i see you also have lots of now cds i do aswell, now 10,13,16,21,23,28,30 and more upto mid 70 number after that they were tat

Mine take ages to warm up too specially the coated end. These are safe for the naked eye right?

the half coated tube might emit some uv as per a germicidal tube so not recommended

yep t8s can and do take a few minutes to "warm up" this is only seen in t5/8 tubes not t12s as far as i know. less mercury means this. thats why i prefer t12s they give full output immediately

How rare are these? Are they like for demonstration or something?

yeah half coaters are perfectly safe to view, they are made out of normal glass like any other tube which naturally blocks the harmful UV-C, (germicidal tubes are made out of special glass with a low iron content that allows UV C to pass)
