Typical fluorescent install in an old Shop

This picture shows a common install in many older shops and other buildings that I remember from my childhood in the 70s and 80s with fluorescent battens suspended on chains and linked to an original installation, via a bayonet plug, with a ceramic ceiling rose mounted on a wooden backing. Somewhere there would be a dozen or so dolly switches also mounted on wood. Nearly every news agents had that cigarette display unit with the fluorescent backlit sign and clock. Can almost smell the sweets and the newspaper print and hear the gentle ballast buzz!
