Old catenary supply columns 2
While out for a walk around the Liverpool docks, I spotted loads of these old steel columns with overhead catenary supply cables that probably date from the late 1940's or early 1950's.
I've seen similar columns with old Wardle SOX lanterns on them in some places of Liverpool like Gateacre.
I wonder if the original SOX control gear is still inside that gearbox/cutout?
You can tell that these are old as some are rust at the base and you can see about a million layers of paint on it.
Close up view of the cutout/gearbox.

Been bastardised plenty over the last 70-odd years. It's in an area surrounded by old neglected and derelict dock buildings from the 1800's where nobody cares.
