Inherited Thorlux PL Bulkhead
I posted this sometime ago on one of the Facebook groups, it was a real surprise to find this installed at the house that I bought earlier this year, installed over the front door. I didn't notice it when I was viewing the house, just noticed a switch next to the front door on moving in and switched it on and this light lit up over the door! I'd never seen one of these before! It's still there now and will stay there! Finally got round to cleaning it and photographing the gear tray a few weeks ago. It's dated 1993. Wonder how this fitting came to be installed in a house, it looks quite industrial.

Looks a pretty sturdy unit!

I like that

Thanks guys, like it a lot, gives plenty of much needed light as the street lights are LED and it's very dark.

Interesting the way they have painted some of the diffuser. You'd expect that when there is gear behind but it is on the other side of the geartray.

The paint looks like ordinary wall paint - Looks like it was done by the previous homeowner

David Guy is quite familiar with this type of fitting and the painted end was from the factory. But I thought the same thing at first but when you look at it, it's just too neat a job to be done by the previous owner, especially when you see the mess they made of the other painting they have done in this house!

Nice! I have a similar fitting that appears to use the same body and cover (minus the painted end) but has no gear tray and instead houses a complete Fitzgerald LPF18 single 2ft batten inside Smile

How strange....

Indeed, I don't know if it was a factory fitting or something someone put together. The batten inside dated to 2003, it was lighting an under cover outdoor area, but was taken down for LED in 2020 but saved for me.
