Home-made 32 + 22 Circline
This must be getting on for 20 years old. It's already used up one set of tubes. 22W is on series L-C leading circuit to partially compensate 32W lagging circuit.

I always find leading PF circuits are harder on the lamps

How can you tell, Kev? I have not noticed any worse lifespan with the 22W tubes.

On the thorn 6' fittings until about 2002 they had one lamp LPF and one HPF (lead lag circuits) the lead lamp would always blow well before the lag

Looks really good, like it's factory made.

Agreed, a real nice build that. And if its lasted 20 years now, only says what good quality it is. I've been toying with making a circular fluorescent out of one of the metal wheel trims I have, but how i would actually mount it to the ceiling leaves me stumped.

The circular aluminium housing is something I found in London on holiday in the early 90s, probably down an alley somewhere. My guess was that it came from some sort of food processor. It's in my loft den, where temps can approach 40 deg C in high summer. It gets loads of use and it's never complained.

Kev, I know those lead/lag 6' pairs well, both as twins and pairs of singles. I recall my Dad fitting them in the 70s. I still have some chokes and capacitors from them. Did they stop making them because of the lifetime issue on the lead?
