Suppose there is less chance of it going black on the coating lol

It manage to run up fully in there, or does lack of reflective coating somewhat hinder it?

Totally hinders it, I first tried this on a 35/55 leak transformer, it red burned!, it wasn’t until I ran it on 125 watt mercury specs it fully ran up!, and did that jar get hot!
