1000w Cosmedico UV Tanning Lamp

This rather fearsome lamp was engineered and made by Sylvania for Cosmedico sun tanning units.
It has quite an interesting chemistry of Iron and Cobalt halides which form the classic UVA+UVB radiators, plus additional dopants of thallium and thulium

Some mad customers of this lamp often used 43 of these in their fast tanning sunbeds! Apparently the noise from all of the fans needed to keep the lunatic inside cool is like that of a large turbofan engine!
I never saw the point of using a sunbed and I would be hesitant to expose myself to soo much UVB at once!

The arc tube itself is made from quartz that has been doped with titanium dioxide to block most of the UV-C and also the 185.1nm ozone generating line.
