Sylvania 100w "Hotel" double life pearl GLS lamp
A most unusual lamp. Until coming across this lamp I had briefly heard of Sylvania's obscure "Hotel lamps" but it seemed they only appeared to be sold in either T-shape or "Doorknob"-shaped variants and in unusual wattages, each with their own special packaging. This lamp is different however, and besides its etch and brief mention on the box doesn't seem to have anything that sets it apart from a standard Double Life GLS lamp.

The double life rating will mean a softer output which is crucial for a hotel room - you don't want a harsh light when you are settling down for the day after a busy time out

That is very true!

Many years ago I briefly worked in the hotel trade, lamps they used were mainly 'Oliver Marathon' I think I still have one somewhere!

Who made the Oliver Marathon bulbs, Simon? Smile

Sorry, don't know who made them but they lasted well.
