Etch removal as a result of cleaning lamps with a wet towel

I cleaned my two Eurolux FLT508-UVA 8W UVA lamps of my bug zapper with a wet towel, and both etches has been erased...
Why???

Shit ink etches instead of good quality etch, always wash around the etch rather than over it

They used green colour ink for the etch.

Some of my vintage candle 40W incandescent bulbs i had the etches rubbed off - its the Osmay branded ones

it is annoying when that happens, got some tubes like it too. I have a Sylvania circline where the etch literally peeled off in almost complete letters!

I remember cleaning other lamps with a wet towel, and their etch didn't erased as a result.
Isn't they using pad printing to make the etch on the lamps?

Also: Only water based inks can be erased by a wet towel, and water based inks aren't in use in pad printing.

If it hasn't adhered to the glass properly it will still come off whether water based or not though. The smooth shiny surface of the glass doesn't really provide much for anything to stick to.

That wouldn't happen with a Bell tube, their etches are some of the best.
