I wouldn't rule out these being used as blackout bulbs to me - as even then the spray paint job was indeed a war effort to be resourceful. It has been made to the highest possible standard with the spray paint job

Indeed, from what I've seen in the past the coatings on blackout lamps are always very well applied!
