Brand new in box, New old stock, Thorn/Atlas PP65 5ft 65W Popular pack fittings
now here is something you really dont see every-day! over 50 years old new old stock fluorescent battens! the 1960's/1970's Thorn Popular pack (and the super-slim before it) is a legendary fixture but you *very* rarely see New in box examples like this these days! these are really minty fresh, its quite surreal seeing a pop pack up close like this in such good/new condition.

it has also provided a very interesting study into the fine details of these fixtures, how they where presented new/what components they came with etc, and these in particular are quite interesting, in how they are still Atlas branded on the boxes, but are besides the included tube, are completely Thorn branded throughout otherwise, these must of been some of the last to bare the Atlas branding before the Thorn branding took over, if I am reading the date code of the included tube correctly, that gives me March 1974, which would tally with the stamp inside the fixture if said stamp means 15th week 1974? control gear fitted can be seen here (the tube sleeve is completely blank devoid of any markings at all from what I can see)

overall I am very pleased with these, and well worth the 90 mile round drive I had to do to fetch em :)

An excellent find! Over 50 years old and as good as new. If put into service now and looked after, they would happily be working in 2074. Very Happy

Thanks! I am not sure I could bring myself to install these, if I had a few more sure, but It was hard enough just bringing myself to open the still glued shut box! but I had to see what one of em looks like at least, the other one is still sealed for now at least! Smile

That’s something you definitely don’t see, especially with an Atlas tube! Very Happy

Shocked Nice to see one of these NOS like! I bet it runs nice and silent? That atlas tube does it have the brown pin insert or the later black one?
