Garden light 2, mod complete.
So much better looking than the bulkhead!, this ones a little bit higher than the corner one, but still using the original GE lamp that was in the bulkhead.

I was thinking about puttimg a 18w SOX bulkhead on the back of the house and may put one at the back of the garden on the fence too. Just getting the electricity supply there will be a night mare though

I'd like to see a picture of the lamps?
Liam   [22 Aug, 2015 at 04:13 PM]
Would be interesting watching a cycling lamp in this Laughing

Fastest way is to run a piece of 1.5 SWA along the fence posts, then come into it from the nearest point downstairs, all my garden supply, (2 runs of 1.5 SWA) come down each side of the house from the loft, but this was just the easiest way for me, as the supply is up there for the os lighting.
Dannyk   [22 Aug, 2015 at 05:10 PM]
For me it would have to go under ground as I have a thick concrete path that runs around the whole of my house so getting it under that would be a bitch. plus there's a gate on the fence id need to run it along so it has to go under ground. The other fence could be done easily but the only problem with that is that I'm in the firing line for bad wind in the winter and that fence comes down every year in the bad winter winds.
AngryHorse   [22 Aug, 2015 at 05:18 PM]
Ah right, so your fence dosen`t fit direct to the side of the house like mine does?, suppose I`m lucky being mid terraced, I come straight off the wall to the fence post.
Dannyk   [22 Aug, 2015 at 05:21 PM]
Yeah it does but the gate is on the wall post. I'd have to go under the concrete I'll take a pic

SWA is surprisingly cheap if you find a good supplier
AngryHorse   [22 Aug, 2015 at 05:29 PM]
It is, its cheaper than twin and earth at wholesale!, I got 25 metres of it for each side.

Where's the ballast?
FrontSideBus   [11 Jun, 2016 at 01:25 AM]
In his loft IIRC!
AngryHorse   [11 Jun, 2016 at 10:10 AM]
Not the one on this side, its actually mounted in another `unused` bulkhead on the back of the house!!, about 20 foot away from this Very Happy

I miss seeing all your 18w sox , nordex and 50w SON test updates etc lol, you were one of the first guys i found on LG rich along with Kev back then lol,
FrontSideBus   [30 Nov, 2019 at 01:57 AM]
Yeah cool seeing all thse discharge coach lanterns. I'd probs go for 50w MBF in these if it was me.
AngryHorse   [30 Nov, 2019 at 08:06 AM]
Trouble is though, I’m too much like you Dan Very Happy, trying my hardest, I just can’t leave stuff alone once installed! Laughing , I really wanted to keep the Astra SON, but with so many lamps and gear sets temping me, I really couldn’t stop messing with it!, but since the Uni-Street went up on the back, with it’s Factor Small sister on the front, I’ve had absolutely no urge or temptation to change them, and I do have a soft spot for my Factor Small on the front, it’s got that unique colour that Holophane have, with that tiny tint of red in it that looks good on the grass/shrubbery when I come home each night Wink
Danny   [30 Nov, 2019 at 09:04 AM]
I dont think i could have a soft spot for Holophane, i hate them with a Passion LOL. Ive been good the last couple of years, ive only been changing my outside lights lamps once failed. I never touched that Vision SON and SOX i had in earlier this year, both of those i left alone and they failed naturally. ive not touched my 18w (this has an Osram and is on 2 years now so it will be interesting to see if it fails near to the same amount of life as Marks Osram. or the Bollard either apart from sometimes i have to open that and get the water out the base!, when i stuck the Fusion Son in the 79 on the front i did have urges to swap it for a GE lucalox but them urges i think have gone and ive not touched it! I also had urges to swap the 79 for one of them Davy GR70 lanterns when i put the Fusion in but decided not to in the end
AngryHorse   [30 Nov, 2019 at 09:10 AM]
Very Happy You’re doing very well mate!, made me wish I didn’t have so many different lamps in the past!, funny as when I moved in, back in July 95, I thought I’d be using SOX forever, my Beta 5 and 2 would have been clocking up 24 years now!, but the more lamps you collect starts you on a downward spiral of ‘messing’ with stuff! Laughing
FrontSideBus   [30 Nov, 2019 at 10:02 AM]
I’m surprise that I didn’t touch my Gamma 6 for almost four years. Been tempted (and still am) to stick 35w SDW-T gear in it lol
AngryHorse   [30 Nov, 2019 at 10:15 AM]
Yeah, you could run quite a variety of different lamps and sizes in a Gamma 6!, but I’m guessing a 20watt corn cob wouldn’t be you’re first choice? Laughing Laughing
FrontSideBus   [30 Nov, 2019 at 10:40 AM]
I’d put a 20w Chinesium CFL in before one of those lol.
Saying that though, I was looking at those big frosted Dial LED filament lamps in warm white...
