seen a lot of Philips branded chokes and instant start ballasts from the 60's with that diamond with Polyester filled on it. They also did a super slim version called a 'polyslim ballast'

Nice choke. I have an 80W Polyslim. It runs very hot - at least it does on 2 x 2' 40W.

Cool bet this is bomb proof as for the 2' 40W nick maybe higher current on those lamps?

Yes Kev, higher current but it's an 80W choke so should be designed for it.
