Looks like the same fitting as mine! Tube was in a similar state too!!

This fitting goes well in your hallway. You don't see such well ripened tubes these days sadly. It looked just as good when switched off too!

Don`t know what to think about this?, yes banding shows age, and looks good on linear lamps, but on these it kind of makes the lamp look `dirty`, if that makes any sense?

This one's extremely dirty, to the tune of very many inches. The phosphor degradation is unreal. I've just fitted an old 20-80W Wotan starter to replace the Thorn 4-80W. The slow, almost electronic preheat and single start attempt will be much kinder than the multiple rapid flashes.

This tube can't be far from EOL now. It's operating on the last few millimetres of emitter at the right-hand end with orange glow rather than the healthy blue space charge and no orange at the other end.

Save it before it eols

Crikey she's gorgeous! Bet the dimmed ripened colour off of that makes the house proper comfy.
