1978 Thorn PP65 pending restoration This is one of the two pp65s from the Welsh haul a few weeks ago and is about to be restored. It's dated last quarter of 1978 and looks to have had minimal usage. However it has had a hard life and would have been suspended on chains. I would guess it was used in somewhere like a garage. The rear of the spine which would have been facing upwards is in a worse state but nothing that can't be sorted with the detail sander! As there are two, this one will be converted to SRS as I don't currently have an SRS fitting.

If you're converting one, here's an idea for the starter holder. Just done one of my PP65's and was wondering if I should fill it in or not. Most SRS fittings have a fuse carrier, so I decided to use a 1A LED tube fuse (which is in a starter can) and just stick it in the existing starter socket - no need to fill it then Smile

Ooh lovely, I do like these old Pop-packs. They were a cheap and cheerful fitting when new but quite a few still around today in regular use working fine. I've got one a bit newer than this in my garage, but it has the same ballast. It's done a ridiculous amount of hours in a substation where it was pretty much always on, the ballast and paint surrounding it is highly discoloured and the ballast is quite musical, but still working!

That's a great idea, I'll have to remember that one. Certainly a better use for an LED 'starter' than using with an led tube lol
