Typical of Network Rail and Train Operators. They are butchering the GEC 2X40W lanterns for LED retrofit tubes at some Midlands stations too. At least you get to keep the fixtures though.

It must be difficult though as T12s & especially 2ft 40w probably aren't available to buy easily (if at all) for large scale operations like this.

Realistically the other options are HF ballasts with T8 tubes, LED tubes with self contained electronics or rip it out completely!

In circumstances like this I guess LED tubes aren't a bad choice. Lets just hope they last, so the chance of the fixtures being ripped out completely are postponed for many more years.
