Generic 9w CFL, first one failed

The first one of these interestingly shaped generic 9w CFLs I got from eBay has died after probably less than 250 hours run time. It really doesn't look good inside, very cheap smoothing capacitor and the badly wound toroidal transformer that can be seen has burnt up and could be the cause of the failure. This could be a one-off I guess, I'll see how the others fair.

I broke the glass when opening it up, the joint between the tubes is very fragile.

P.s. re-uploaded as the old picture was rubbish and couldn't replace it?

Lol these look crap I don’t like the weak joints on them. What was up with the replace button?

Instead of the new picture appearing after hitting the 'replace' button, the old picture remained but was stretched out to the aspect ratio of the new one? Maybe if I'd left it a few minutes the new pic would have appeared, but I just deleted it and started again.

Yes I suspect all these will have a poor life after looking at this one, but I could be wrong, we'll see!

The one that replaced this has just failed with a massive sock at one of the cathodes, it lasted 4 whole months. These are junk! On the plus side though, I now have a growing collection of spare B22 caps and plastic bases for cap conversions and/or project lamps
