Rusty Old Parmar 250w Mercury Ballast, Of Course It Works!

Remember that rusty old Parmar 250w mercury ballast I rescued the other day? Here it is now, I've given it a quick dust off and connected it up to this Edison 250w MH lamp (runs on SON or MBFU ballasts apparently) and it's buzzing away nicely. It was showing a very small amount of earth leakage, about 200Mohms at 500v, hopefully that'll clear up with a good long run.

I've connected it up to the 250v tapping seeing as we have 248v here at the minute, current power draw is showing as 253 watts. Not bad at all.

253W is pretty good I’d say! Cool

TBH I thought it'd work in some fashion, was worried it might be very noisy or such like. I'll use this for a good few hours before I do anything with it, make sure that bit of earth leakage clears up or at least doesn't get worse
