Interesting failure.
This 11w Sylvania Mini-Lynx Ambience has been in a rise-and-fall pendant lamp above my dining room table for about 5 years and today when I was having my breakfast I noticed it was sitting lower than normal.
On inspection it appears that the lamp has parted company with the cap!
It looks like the cracked plastic is right where the metal cap has been crimped to the plastic base.
A shame really as I quite like this lamp, gives a good colour and decent amount of light with not much glare.

I have a B&Q brand lamp that looks identical to this.
