T5 13W desk lamp
This hefty thing is massive but brilliant.
With the neck pointing up the whole thing is just over 3 feet tall!
Has a lovely ballast inside so will upload a picture soon.
Saw this exact lamp in an episode of Dr Who with Tom Baker in.
Has a school science lab feel to it.
£3 at a jumble sale.

Very nice! Not seen one like this before.

That's my type of desklamp.

Absolutely love it

What tube do you think'd suit it best?
FrontSideBus   [18 Dec, 2018 at 04:32 PM]
827 tbh.
Danny   [18 Dec, 2018 at 04:34 PM]
For me id go 830 / 835
lasagafield   [18 Dec, 2018 at 05:20 PM]
I actually ordered an 827 off ebay for it but being a tight arse I went for a cheap one and got an unknown warm haloposphate. 827's in this format are suprisingly hard to get. I found a fairly cheap but proper osram (I think) 830. When it arrives i'll post the new tube in it.

Is there enough room in the ends of the head to mod it to accept the longer 14w HE lamp?
CP Lighting has a good selection and list Osram 13w T5 lamps in deluxe 930. Expensive at 9 quid though.

It's quite specifically 13W i'm afraid. The back says Best & Lloyd MkII. I wouldn't mind a 930. Never heard of one.

I've had a proper look over and I think I can just about get away with a 14w. This is a massive desk lamp in real life, it'd be funny to see a HO running in it. I'm going to look out for a HO tube and gear and see what it looks like. If I can't make any reversable modifications I won't though because i'm fond of it now.

Is that a metal can starter poking out the front?
lasagafield   [26 Dec, 2018 at 12:58 AM]
Yeah one of those American 30/40W(I think) ones. Suit the fixture.
lasagafield   [18 Jan, 2019 at 04:01 AM]
Tube arrived and sadly I can't get it to fit without modifying the fixture. Don't want to modify it though so may build a dodgy bodgy fitting for it. Have powered it up and I have to say it's a bloody bright tube!
