Interesting. I know CP lighting stock some oddball lengths of lamps but don’t think I’ve ever seen any in use.

Ditto, I'd heard of 1 metre tubes but I've never seen any in use, probably why the wholesaler I got these from were disposing of them. I'd also heard of 970mm tubes and after a bit of research, it turns out they're the same thing, very confusing.

I'll get these lit at some point, looks like a 35w SON/MH ballast will do the job (0.53a lamp current). I wonder what ballasts these use normally, and if they're specific to them, if anyone still makes them?

I have some 38w tubes that are 1050mm. Some odd length tubes out there!

these also used to come in T12 form and there was also a 1050Mm T12 tube which itself also required special gear rather then running off a normal 40W choke, just to add extra confusion to the mix!, the 35W SON/MH ballast is a pretty good shout

Yes the 1050mm 38w lamp is another slightly oddball one, less rare than the 1m lamps I'd say though? I've seen a few of them in use in under cabinet lights anyway, and some of them said fittings on Ebay too. According to the data on the Philips site they operate at 0.43a so should work just fine on a regular 4ft 36/40w ballast

aye yeah the 1050Mm T8 is the most common of the odd ball roughly 1M tubes, and does run on normal 36-40W gear but before the 1050Mm T8 existed there was also a 1050Mm T12, but that required special gear like the 970Mm T8/T12

Oh I see, sorry I misread. I've never seen or even heard about 1m or 1050mm T12s. I wonder if there's any still knocking about anywhere? Must be rare as hens teeth?
