I think the lamps in my bug zapper glow slightly violetish blue colour when they were new.

Insect killer tubes phosphor often darkens over time which could cause the slight colour shift. They are usually advised to be replaced regularly (such as every 12 months) to ensure the bug zapper is always producing the correct amount of light.

I don't see any blackening at the phosphor of the lamps. It is still white.
