Lamp actually fits nicely, with just it cap needing to go into the hole on the backboard!
(Lamp support is fashioned from a copper brazing rod)!

Laughing I don’t have a workshop as such at home like yours Cool, so I took it to work where we have everything, only took an hour or so, hardest bit was making the loop support, I had the lamp plugged in and propped up at the end with little pieces of wood, then it was just a measuring test! Rolling Eyes , seems I got it right as the lamp hangs perfectly level when the right way around! GECs original support is not a loop, (more of a hanger), but they use heavier set wire going off the picture, but I put a loop in it as a little bit of added strength to my thinner brazing wire! Cool

The old Koffer (designed for one 250W Merc or 150/250 SON-E lamp size, gear in the lantern) had a version with an additional small 80W merc in the opposite end of the reflector for full night / part night control scheme. (The big lamp does part night, the small lamp full night)

To make the lamps fit, the E40 lamp holder was recessed into the gear compartment just like this, from the factory. The gear sets for both lamps was moved away to remote to make room
