Strange looking streetlight/floodlight

Spotted in this area of Wernigerode when I was sheltering from the rain

Looks odd and defo is a MV running fixture

Hello Fluorofan96,

this is a fixture type “0231.4”, manufactured by VEB Leuchtenbau Leipzig. This type with 1x125W was discontinued in 1974.
It is the only luminaire from this type series with the smaller housing, all other luminaires from this type series had a larger housing.
All luminaires were only supplied with MV lamps and MV ballasts.

If you are still in the Wernigerode region, I recommend you take a trip to Wegeleben (near Quedlinburg), where you will find a lot of old fixtures from the GDR era that are still in operation.
