Revo B9504
Bought recently from an antique fair is this absolutely stunning Revo B9504 lantern, in actually really clean and good overall condition. I didn't even have to haggle, the seller knocked themselves down by nearly half to a more than reasonable price, hence I bit and ran! One thing I cannot understate is how god damned HEAVY the lantern is, I had to stop and rest about seven times as I took it back to the car. That's because the whole light is constructed entirely out of Cast Iron, the framework being Brass. Add the glass, its no wonder its so heavy!

Its been given a restoration, and while most of it overall is good, its only when you open it where the work goes south, as the glasswork is nothing more than a bodge to my eyes. All the brass clamps that hold the glass in place have been removed, the glass itself having been poorly siliconed in place. One pane of glass is also mismatched, and the one at the very bottom isn't even big enough to seal the lantern.
The lamp holder and mounting bracket have also been removed. Considering this lantern is intended to run 300w GLS, means finding a matching bracket for the lamp holder will be very difficult. I'm currently in the process of having a new bracket made however, so soon should be sporting a 300w GLS lamp as intended from new

Since these photo's were taken, I've stripped all the glass out and had all new matching glass cut to size, ready to fit. I've also located original brass 4BA and 3/16" whit screws, and hopefully with dads help some correct 0.75mm gauge brass sheet in which I can cut and bend into new glass clips. I intend to strip the paint off and respray it back to it original dark green colour, polish and clear lacquer the brass uprights on the frame, and add some gold highlights to the upper rim and the cast top piece, as well as the scrollwork. Hopefully this will warrant me being allowed to install it somewhere, its far too nice to leave uninstalled imo (plus its weight makes it an absolute pain....)

Oh its a crazy heavy beast this lantern, I wish it were possible to actually physically show you through a screen. My arms were dropping off by the time I got it to the car, what was amusing to me was that the car went down by about an inch or two when I put it in the boot Laughing
