Osram Decolux colored Here you can see a lit set of Osram decolux Bicolor and one decolux cool blue lamp. They are Osram's version of coloured MR16 halogen lamps. A dichroic coating reflecting only a certain wavelength is applied on the inside of the lamps reflector. The lenses themselves are left clear. This results in the desired colour being reflected forwards. The backside of the lamp lights up in the opposite colour. Other manufacturers blocked that light with a reflector, however Osram shoos the approach of sandblasting the back of the lamp, allowing it to light up in the opposite colour. This can be seen very well in this picture. The lamps are the following 12V 20W 12° red 12v 20W 12° green 12V 20W 12° yellow 12V 50W 12° blue 12V 50W 12° Cool blue

These would look fantastic used on one of those exposed wire systems, where you'd then be able to see both the light projected forward, along with the 'waste' light / colour showing backwards. Would definitely look pretty cool

Indeed! I always loved those catenary systems! Not matter how good LED MR16's now are, they will never match the sparkle that you get from the dichroic reflectors!

very cool line up! I really like the use of a Dichroic reflector for colour filtering rather the a Dichoric lens many of the colour MR16's normally used, although with a clear front lens i do wonder how pure the colour output is since there will still be some unfiltered light projected directly forwards by the filament itself
