American made 5 foot T8 undercab light

This is a first for me. I was at a second hand building shop
found some 5 foot undercab lights. These can hold a T12 nicely
And a simple mod to convert them to T12 by setting the GE
HF ballast in overdrive to run 58/65 watt tube with ease.
There a 7 footer. I need go back as i got some odd 7 foot lamp
To use once I made my modification.

When you say a first, are 5 foot T8s rare in the states?

Somewhat rare (I believe the lamps mostly used in commercial refrigeration units) I've never seen a 5' fitting just by itself. would love to come across one.

The 5' T8 lamps here are 40w, but Funkybulb says, you can wire a 2-lamp instant-start HF ballast for 2x overdrive on a single lamp. (you'll then get between 60w - 70w on a 5' T8 )

At angeryhorse it a fitting first i ever seen, as most 5 foot lamp use is in reach in refrigeration case. 5 foot lamps just uncommon that u have go to a lamp shop to purchase them.

Looking at this fitting again, it most likely came from a commercial/office desk (rather than being an undercabinet light)
